Meet the Bees
Meet our bees! Within the beehive there are split roles: the queen bee, the two types of worker bees, and the drone bees. The queen bee is in charge of the hive and is responsible for laying the hive’s next generation of bees. The worker bees which are female are split up between two tasks. One is to gather pollen and nectar which serves as food for the hive. The second is to take care of the hive and the babies. Drone bees which are male bees are responsible for mating with the queen bee so she can continue to lay the next generations of bees. They are completely dependent on the worker bees. Going into the winter months they can be kicked out of the hive. All of these sections play a fundamental part in the hive. In fact the queen bee can live up to 5 years! Honey bees are very important since they are pollinators for flowers, fruits, and vegetables. They are critical for the environment!
